A Sustainable Transformation: Our East Bridgford Project Shortlisted for the Homebuilding & Renovating Awards 2024

We are delighted to share that our East Bridgford project has been shortlisted for the prestigious Homebuilding & Renovating Awards 2024! This milestone celebrates our commitment to creating beautifully bespoke, sustainable family homes tailored to modern living.

Breathing New Life into a Nottinghamshire Farmhouse

Located in the picturesque village of East Bridgford, this project began with a modest farmhouse that had been extended piecemeal over the years, resulting in a layout that no longer met the demands of a modern family. Our brief was to reimagine the home, transforming it into a light-filled, energy-efficient sanctuary that maximises its connection to the surrounding countryside.

Key Features of the Design

1. Open-Plan Family Living
   The heart of the home is a spacious, open-plan kitchen, dining, and living area. Designed to flow seamlessly into the large garden, this space invites natural light and creates a vibrant hub for family life.

2. Thoughtful Internal Reconfiguration
   By relocating the stairs and main entrance, we improved the circulation of the home, enhancing its functionality and flow.

3. Innovative Extensions
   A dormer extension adds a versatile home office and playroom, future-proofing the home for evolving family needs.

4. Sustainable Features
   We prioritised energy efficiency and sustainability throughout the project. Upgrades include:

   • Enhanced wall, floor, and roof insulation

   • Triple-glazed windows from Ecohaus Internorm

   • A full mechanical ventilation heat recovery (MVHR) system

   • Renewable energy systems, including a ground source heat pump and solar panels

5. Striking Exterior
   The existing farmhouse façade has been completely transformed. Clad in a blend of natural and black larch, the exterior exudes contemporary elegance while complementing its rural setting.

6. Scandi-Minimalist Aesthetic
   Inside, the interiors reflect a clean, minimalist Scandinavian style. The result is a serene yet practical environment perfectly suited to modern family life.
