Easthorpe Gardens, Ruddington
This bespoke contemporary home in Ruddington exemplifies a refined approach to modern living, balancing bold architectural form with a strong connection to its surroundings. Designed with clean lines and a restrained material palette, the composition of crisp white render, black metal detailing, and warm timber elements creates a striking yet timeless aesthetic.
Design Philosophy
The concept for this home was driven by a desire to create a seamless dialogue between structure and landscape. Large expanses of glazing invite natural light deep into the plan, while carefully positioned overhangs provide both solar shading and a sense of shelter. The interplay of solid and void, light and shadow, gives the house a dynamic presence throughout the day.
Spatial Experience
Internally, the design embraces openness while maintaining a sense of warmth and intimacy. The ground floor is arranged around a flowing, open-plan living space, where framed views of the garden enhance the experience of movement through the home. The upper level, designed for retreat and privacy, features generous bedrooms with private terraces that extend the living experience beyond the walls.
Materiality & Craftsmanship
Every detail has been considered to elevate the experience of the space. A restrained yet rich material palette—natural wood, textured surfaces, and high-quality finishes—brings a tactile quality to the home. The use of bespoke joinery and precision detailing throughout reflects a commitment to craftsmanship.
A Connection to Place
Set within the village of Ruddington, this home responds to its surroundings with sensitivity. The careful orientation and massing ensure both privacy and openness, while the landscaping reinforces a natural connection between inside and out.
This project represents my continued pursuit of architecture that is both sculptural and liveable—spaces designed with intent, crafted with care, and made to stand the test of time.
